Cricket Season

ONE from ONE.

Awesome start to the season!

The Braidwood boys have had it over us in the past. There was some fear in the Bungendore camp that we could not beat them. We had some new blood in our team who looked good in the nets but could they perform on centre stage? Could the old boys make it through the game without getting injured? Would all the tinnies be drunk by lunch?

We lost the toss. Was this the start of a bad day!

Braidwood batted first, and Boon and Adam Clarke got off to a cracker!

4 overs gone and they had 49 runs ticked off, and the sex and sizzle that the Bungendore Royals had brought with them was looking very unattractive. Then Paul bowled Boon for 44. Scratcher bowled Adam Clarke for 45, and life was coming back to the Royals.

Rick got 2 cheap wickets, Stuart bowled awesome in his second spell, and although 222 was a big score to chase after lunch, on a small oval and a solid batting line-up; the score was achievable!

Scratcher and Frank opened well and got the runs ticking over from the get-go. Scratcher got 24 runs, Frank, Sandy and Rick all started but couldn’t get a decent score. Paul Opray batted like a little master. He retired on 53, played some fantastic shots, and turned the game around in the first over after drinks. His stroke play was amazing to watch and combined with a 50 from Hobba and a 35 from new-boy-Stuart, we won the match and brought the VB Cup back home!

We lost the boat race! More practice in beer drinking is needed, and I know the best place to do that! Paul was awarded the man of the match – a well deserved award!

Tash was the designated bus driver – thank god! She was the only one off the drink and had any common sense when the bus returned. Thanks for getting the boys to and from Braidwood safely Tash. I think you have given yourself a job!!

Next week we play the RUC Club at home. Lets do it again!

Mudchooks Grand Final

Mudchooks came second in the Grand Final!

At half time the mudchooks were trailing 29 points to 3 but made an astonishing comeback in the second half, almost taking the game, but unfortunately Jindabyne managed to hold on to win 40 points to 36. A disappointing result for the boys, but after a cracker of a year they were winners in our hearts!

The last few weekends have seen us as major sponsors, play host to the teams Silly Sunday and then their presentation night, both events kicked on well into the night and were enjoyed by all.

It’s been a pleasure sponsoring the team this year and we look forward to another great season next year!
Well done boys!

Winter Solstice Swim 2015

The winter solstice swim is done for another year, and it may take us that long to forget just how cold it was.
Thirty-nine courageous men and women braved the icy waters for their shot at glory and winning the blue cup, but there could only be one winner.
This year the blue cup went to Hobba for his efforts and his daring nudie run on our drink stop.
2015 marked 5 years for the event that has almost become a right of passage for young Bungendorians and we are pleased to announce that once again there were zero deaths!

Well done to all who braved the cold to make this another fantastic swim!
