On Sunday 5th March we held the Beyond The Blaze Fundraiser for the victims of the recent Carwoola bush fires and once again the residents of Bungendore blew us away with their generosity!
From the outset we really weren’t sure what we were in for, we hoped for the best, we hoped that we would get a few hundred people in and we hoped we would raise around $10,000 on the day.
But as so often happens in this town, the day far exceeded anyone’s expectations!
We cant be sure of exactly how many people came through the gates on Sunday but we think it was somewhere in the vicinity of 500 people, which is absolutely phenomenal.
The atmosphere was awesome, everyone who came was there to have a good time and support a great cause and even the rain couldn’t dampen our spirits!
We are proud to say the we raised $14,435.19 which will go directly to the Carwoola Bush Fire Appeal. But without the generosity of so many people the day wouldn’t have been the success that it was so special thanks need to go out to quite a few people who donated their time to help us out:
Michael Bond of local band Brewn and Country rocks who basically put the whole day together.
The awesome artists who did the event for free – James Blundell, Tori Darke, Ben Ransom and Brewn
Neil – the sound guy
Rotary for running the barbeque
Scouts for running the raffles
Adam Hanson from Hanson Construction for donating the scaffolding for the stage
D Group and John Walker Jones for the donation of temporary fencing
And thanks to the many businesses who donated:
Bungendore Country Butchery
Gunna Doo Bakery
Bungendore Rural Store
Local Liquor Bungendore
De Bortoli Wines
Carlton and United Breweries
This is what makes Bungendore such a great place to live the community spirit here is awesome and we are grateful and proud to be part of such a great community!
